Wildlife Conservation Society India Program has career opportunities for candidates interested in wildlife research and conservation.

Position: Research Assistant

Location: Bengaluru and field work in multiple sites.

Requirements:

1. Graduate degree in any discipline.
2. Basic working knowledge of computers.
3. Fluency in spoken and written Kannada, must.
4. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
5. Willing to stay in forests, with basic facilities, for extended time frame.
6. Passionate about wildlife.

Selected applicants will be required to complete an unpaid internship period of one month. An evaluation will be carried out following the probation; depending on performance and mutual interest, the candidates may be offered a permanent position in the organization.

"Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) 2015

The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to encourage students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in Science. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research.

This program aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

Protein Expression & Purification Workshop: Special Focus on Cell - Free Protein Expression Indo-Finland grant training/workshop (IV4SP- FinSynBio - Synthetic Biology 2013-2017): Funded by DBT

Cell-free expression system is emerging as a powerful tool for protein expression. The immense potential of cell-free protein synthesis has been widely recognized and is exploited in many ways. The cell-free system comprises a crude extract that includes ions (buffer) and all the macromolecular components required for translation (e.g. NTPs, ribosomes, tRNAs, transcription and translation factors etc.). The extract is also supplemented with amino acids, energy sources such as ATP, energy generating systems, cofactors and so on. In vitro protein synthesis proceeds through the addition of DNA/RNA as template in a tube comprising of the necessary machinery for protein synthesis

The objective of this workshop is to provide hands-on training on basics of cloning, cell-free protein expression and purification (basics). It aims at familiarising the researchers with cell-free expression system (for the first time in India, as far as we know) which is a rapidly growing technology with widespread applications. The program is structured for four days (tentatively beginning on July 20^{th $}).
