The IGBMC International PhD Programme

The IGBMC International PhD Programme is organised within the framework of the Doctoral School of the University of Strasbourg (UdS).Students register with the UdS which delivers the final PhD diploma. The Programme aims to train dedicated students in all areas of modern biology and state-of-the-art technologies at the Institute for Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC).
Following a call in spring, highly qualified candidates are selected each year by a selection committee composed of team leaders of the IGBMC. Students join one of the IGBMC laboratories for a research project, and attend lectures, seminars and courses to complete their training. During the course of their PhD, students will acquire the skills needed to pursue a successful career in biology. They will be able to attend numerous first-class seminars given by internationally renowned scientists and discuss with them. They will experience the everyday excitement of working in a lab in an intellectually stimulating and dynamic environment.

Please note that the successful applicants will have to provide the following additional documents, in order to enroll at the doctoral school:
  • a copy of the original diplomas (higher education)
    and a french translation if not originally in french
  • a copy of any authored scientific paper or scientific report
    (for ex. your master thesis)
  • a birth certificate
