Celebrate Big Bird Day 2014 with CBMI

Common Bird Monitoring India (CBMI) celebrates Big Bird Day. It is an annual nation-wide dawn to dusk event where birders (individual and teams) form small teams covering one or more localities on 16th February.During Big Bird Day, teams of people visit a pre-determined site in order to sight as many species of birds as they can between dawn and dusk. These figures are then sent by e-mail to a central team which collates and tabulates the figures and then announces the Big Bird Day results. This Big Bird Day, all you need to do is spend 15 minutes of your time monitoring the common birds in and around your homes or offices. Under NFS’s Common Bird Monitoring of India program, just stand at one point and observe the bird species that you can see, count their number and make a note. Next, visit www.cbmi.in register, geo-tag your location and submit observations. In this way, without having to venture out for a day, you can be part of Big Bird Day celebrations from your home.
