Basudha’s Biotechnology Laboratory- Opportunity

Basudha’s Biotechnology Laboratory for Conservation, sponsored by Siddha Community Foundation, is established in Kolkata, with the explicit aim to promoting conservation of the country’s biological heritage.

This lab is engaged in molecular biological study of folk rice varieties, and tissue culture of critically endangered plants, to promote their conservation for the benefit of the local communities.

Job: Origin and evolution of aroma in indica rice
Eligibility: Masters in Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology or an equivalent biological discipline.
Preferred Skills: Extraction of DNA from plant tissues, conducting PCR and gel electrophoresis. Sequence alignment and editing. Familiarity with basic population genetics program e.g. MEGA, DNAsp 

Place: Biotechnology Lab for Conservation, Off E.M. Bypass, Kolkata. The venue, date and timings will be communicated upon receiving application.

Emoluments: INR 12,000 p.m consolidated, depending on expertise. plus INR 1000 toward HRA, for out-station candidates.
The person would share authorship in all scientific publications. Candidate’s research may lead to Ph.D.
