Internship in Science writing

The Research Media Services Division of Gubbi Labs is happy to call for interns interested in writing science stories (http://iisc.researchmedia.center/internships).

Work will entail taking on technical scientific material and communicating it to a popular audience. This can include 1) reading academic papers and writing about them in simple language 2) visiting labs and interacting with scientists, and communicating their research in simple language. We are happy to have interns writing in Kannada too!
We want to pay interns for their communication efforts. After an initial trial period where the intern is expected to write a minimum of 3 stories, deliver them on time and to our satisfaction, we will consider paying the interns. Payment would be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Interns will have their names appear along with their pieces on the IISc Science Media Cent
er
website (http://iisc.researchmedia.center/). This is a lot more visibility (and money) than media/journalism based internships around the world!
Qualifications: Basic understanding of at least one branch of science, ability to read and understand academic papers, ability to work to a deadline, good command of English. People who can write about science in their vernacular language are welcome to apply. Those interested in communicating science using different mediums: infographics, posters, multimedia like audio and video, are all welcome to apply.

Those interested please apply here: http://goo.gl/forms/PGK0mg1ETv. Please attach your CV and email to editor@researchmedia.center after you submit the form.
